Neutral opinion

Since this phone was only sold in the Japanese market, there is seemingly no English opinion on this phone, so I will give one here. For context, I bought this phone for my phone collection. The Digno BX2 is a basic, but functional phone. Of course, living in the US, I can't say anything about cell service. The design and build is really basic, since it's just rough black plastic, although I do like the bumpers that raise on the corners, which helps reduce damage, and I wish more phones had that. Contrary to what this site says, there is no 3.5 jack on the BX2. What the BX2 is also missing is a loudspeaker, so all audio comes from the top ear speaker, akin to the iPhone Air. What this phone does have is a notification LED (very nice to have!), a decent haptic motor (as opposed to an ERM type motor), and a tool-free SIM tray, which is much better than the common pinhole trays found on most phones, although these tool-free trays are common on Japanese phones. The OS (which I tried the original Android 11 software, not upgrading to the max Android 13) is lightly skinned, but the main modifications are a different dialer, contacts, and messaging app, as well as a decent number of carrier bloatware. There are two launchers, a typical stock launcher and a simpler launcher. There's even a shortcut to the default launcher app selection in the main settings homepage, when it's usually buried under Apps>Default apps. There also isn't NFC, and the camera system is lackluster. Again, expected from a basic phone. The display is 1080p, though! Albeit, it's only an LCD. To be fair, other rivals also had LCDs, but typically only at 720p.
